Whale Shark Tour Itinerary

Guests are picked up between 4:40 am and 7:00 am depending on their location. Transportation brings you to the private marina in Cancun where the boats depart. After breakfast and a full briefing, the boat heads to open water where whale sharks congregate.

The navigation to the whale shark area takes approximately 45 minutes. Guests enter the water in pairs with a guide and are guaranteed at least two swims with the whale sharks when conditions allow. Additional swims may be possible if the captain approves.

Throughout the journey, it is common to see dolphins, manta rays, and sea turtles. After swimming with whale sharks, the boat travels to a reef near Isla Contoy or Isla Mujeres for snorkeling and ceviche. Vegan and vegetarian options are available upon request during booking.

All boats are built for stability with dual engines, shaded areas, and long hulls up to 35 feet. Safety equipment and trained staff ensure a comfortable experience.

Tours usually return to the hotel before 4 pm depending on sea conditions. Motion sickness medication is recommended for guests who are prone to seasickness.

Weather Policy

If the weather does not permit the tour to operate, it will be rescheduled for another day. Guests who cannot attend the new date receive a full refund.

Cancellation Policy

• 45 to 8 days before tour: 100% refund of deposit

• 8 to 2 days before tour: 75% refund of deposit

• Less than 36 hours before tour: no refund, but rebooking allowed within the season at no extra charge

• After noon the day before the tour: no refund and no rebooking option

Important Note:
Whale shark sightings are highly likely but not guaranteed. No refunds are given if whale sharks are not seen, as per federal regulations since 2016. Sea conditions may impact the ability to find or see them. The tour is not recommended for children under four years old.

Tours do not operate on the 30th of May, June, July, and August.
